Shoshone Point Day

Up at 4 a.m., out the door by 5:30 and a drive of several miles to the entrance to Shoshone Point.  All painters are given the code to get through the gate and drive the one mile of dirt road down to the point.  I park, grab my gear and coffee, and walk midway out the long peninsula of Kaibab that juts out into the Canyon.  I’ve painted here before and know that when the sun comes up, it reveals the receding ridges in subtle shades of blue.  © Dawn Sutherland  2017
