So, other than shadows on the correct side of the formations, what tells you it’s a morning scene?  Sky at the horizon is slightly green/yellow.  The air is clear and clean in the early morning and the shorter wavelengths travel through to your eye.  Shadows are a bit bluer and the light on the vegetation is brighter yellow.  The lit portions of redwall and supai aren’t as vibrant orangey  as in the afternoon when the light waves are longer and the orange and red light illuminates more.  In the morning, they’re almost a pale pink.  © Dawn Sutherland  2017
